ABOUT THE RRED FRAMEWORK

The Framework for Rights-based Reparatory Environmental Democracy - RRED Framework - is a set of principles and tools for advancing climate and environmental justice through the core pillars of Rights, Reparations, and Environmental Democracy. The human rights standards that shape the normative base of the RRED Framework include: (1) the right to a healthy environment; (2) principles of environmental democracy; (3) the protection of environmental rights defenders; (4) guiding principles on business and human rights; (5) economic, social and cultural rights related to the environment; and (6) reparations. The RRED Framework incorporates a cross-cutting focus on equality and non-discrimination.
